Division of GENERAL NUCLEAR PHYSICS
In the spring 1946 D.Scobeltsyn has organized and headed the special Division at the Moscow State University Physical department, which should supply experts on nuclear physics. Institute of nuclear physics established the same time started to be an experimental base for training of the experts. There were involved profound scientists in theoretical and experimental physics: D.Blohintsev, V.Veksler, I.Frank, S.Vernov, L.Groshev. On the Division the strongest second course students of physical department were composed.
In 1949 the special Division was divided into five divisions. Division 3 the Division of accelerators - was headed by Vladimir Veksler. The same year there was the first release of the Division (10 students).
In 1961 the head of the Division was appointed Prof. Andrey Kolomensky. The Division at this time trained the experts on physics of accelerators, physics of plasma and physics of nuclear processes that is why its named " Division of accelerators and nuclear interactions ".
In 1987 the Division was renamed again - "Division of general nuclear physics ", that has reflected the extension of a spectrum of scientific directions in the Division. The head of the Division was elected the Prof. Boris Ishkhanov, which supervises over Division now. Nowdays on the Division the scientific researches are carried on in the field of physics of a nucleus and nuclear reactions, field theory, accelerators, beams of the charged particles. On the Division the competent experts work: the professors B Ishkhanov, O.Vasilenko, V.Grishin, I. Kapitonov, A.Sukhanov; the associate professors N.Goncharova, F.Zivopistsev, E.Käbin, V.Sukharevsky; assistant professors M.Stepanov, E.Shirokov; physicist S.Borodina.
For period more than a half of a century the Division has released about 560 diplomaed experts - physicists. There were prepared more than 80 Ph.D. thesises at the Division. Graduates of the Division are recognized experts in the various areas of fundamental and applied science.
